Clerkenwell’s Design Field showcases the leading furniture, lighting and product designs from around the world to present a diverse range of the best in international contemporary design.
Each year, Design Fields stands out as the heartbeat of Clerkenwell — a curated sprawl of innovation tucked inside Spa Fields, where brands from around the world come not just to exhibit, but to express themselves. This year was no different. From tactile chairs to interactive lights, the installations blurred the line between product and poetry.
This is Charis’ personal curation of installations that stood out to her. Here are a few products that lingered:
1. Bene Office
As part of the Bene Group, Bene is an international leading company specializing in the design and office furnishing and work environment space. They are an active, significant market player in Europe and as a result, they develop and produce customized furniture solutions for all company sizes.
For Clerkenwell Design Week, they showcased and launched a reinterpretation of the original coffee house chair in an unprecedentedly sustainable material. The NOOVO chair is made from 100% fully recycled materials and is an innovative coffee house chair that doesn't have glass fibre added to the recycled polypropylene plastic (PP), meaning the plastic can later be recycled by type and transferred to a new product lifecycle without any restrictions.
Bene showcased the NOOVO chair in a variety of 5 distinct colours - ice blue, jade green, charcoal, clay and stone white; that can be versatile for indoor and outdoor uses, and they have interchangeable seats in different seat pad designs that allow the chair to be customized.
2. Ethimo
Ethimo presented their Patio collection, whose inspiration is the combination of the warm and inviting colours of the Mediterranean and the charm of humble and authentic places.
The lounge collection has welcoming shapes alongside a cocoon function that’s conceived to hug the body in a comfortable embrace. Designed by Studio Zanellato/Bortotto, the collection is an expression of their passion for the variety of weaves and patterns they discover on their travels.
The frames are made out of wood and teak and woven by skilled craftsmen to the studio’s suggestions, tests and inspirations.
3. Bolon Flooring UK
Bolon teamed up with Schönbuch to display a great selection of flooring materials, highlighting form, material and colour detailing.
All of Bolon’s floors and rugs are made from extremely durable and resilient bio-sourced materials, including 68% recycled materials, and are designed to last in high-intensity public and commercial environments with a 0% climate impact.
